Why Your Website NEEDS to be Responsive / Mobile Ready in 2015

Responsive web design concept. Desktop computer, tablet pc, lapSo you may have heard the terms “responsive” or “mobile ready” being thrown around a lot the last few years and you may be wondering how it relates to your own small business website?

Basically “Mobile Ready” and “responsive” refers to a website layout that adjusts to looks good on a smart phone or tablet as well as a desktop computer.

If you don’t currently have a website but are planning to build one, great! Now is a good time to build a new site since there are a lot of easy options for creating a mobile ready design.

If you already have a website you may be thinking, “why should I update my site?”, maybe you just updated the design a year or 2 ago, and the thought of having to do that again makes you a bit queasy.

Is having a responsive design for your website is really worth it?  YES, it needs to be done and here is why…

  1. An estimated 60% of mobile traffic comes from a mobile device!
  2. Google put all webmasters on notice earlier this year (2015),  letting everyone know that if you’re website is not mobile ready it will effect your ranking in mobile search (remember 60% of traffic comes from mobile devices).
  3. If you are doing any social media advertising, the percentage of traffic coming from mobile phones tends to be even higher.
